Table runners add a little something extra to a table–whether they are placed directly on bare wood or on top of a table cloth. An extra decorating layer, table runners can add a pop of color or simply lend some texture to a centerpiece or display. I like to use table runners on my dining room table but also on the coffee tables in my living and family rooms.
I often admire the diverse selection of table runners in stores that generally start around $15 and can run into the $100s, but rarely can I justify the cost. It’s not that I don’t think they are worth it. I simply have been on the hunt for a less expensive alternative and something, well, a little unexpected.
That’s when I discovered men’s scarves!
That table runner is a tweed men’s scarf. I scored it for $1 at the local thrift store. It made its first appearance on my coffee table during Christmas which I posted about here.
I fell in love with its simplicity and texture. But can we talk about the dainty fringe?! This piece is absolutely perfect in my home. I cannot wait to try it out on my dining room table this winter. Do you have any creative table runner solutions of your own?
